Learn how to plant lavender at home

A hands-on class teaching how to grow lavender in a pot or in your yard will be offered from noon to 1:15 p.m. Wednesday and repeated from noon to 1:15 p.m. May 11 at Shabby Chic Boutique. 2586 Patterson Road.

Participants can learn about the soil, amendments, fertilizers, water and sun requirements.

The $12 fee for the class includes a plant, container and other materials. Preregistration is necessary so the correct number of plants are available. Class size is limited. Register by calling 314-7278 or 314-7613.

Botanical gardens given grant

 

Colorado Garden Show has awarded a $7,500 grant to the Western Colorado Botanical Gardens.

The grant funds will be used for repairs and planting in the Native Garden, according to a news release from Colorado Garden Show.

The funds were among $550,000 in grants and scholarships recently awarded by Colorado Garden Show, a nonprofit that raises funds through the Colorado Garden & Home Show and the Colorado Fall Home Show.
