Gunnison Energy acquires oil, gas lease near Cedaredge

Gunnison Energy bought a federal oil and gas lease Thursday for 765 acres in Delta County on the flanks of Grand Mesa north of Cedaredge.

Gunnison paid the minimum allowable bid of $2 an acre for the lease rights Thursday at the Bureau of Land Management’s quarterly Colorado lease sale.

The BLM’s sale of 9,115 acres netted $462,322. The highest per-acre price was $110, offered by Land Energy Inc. for a 600-acre parcel in Park County. Forty-nine percent of proceeds go to the state.

WildEarth Guardians had protested the Delta County lease, citing concerns about air quality and greenhouse gas emissions.
