Ten Mesa County businesses, including a couple high-end restaurants, received summonses for selling alcohol to minors during compliance checks by police over the weekend, according to the Grand Junction Police Department.

Police accompanied by an underage person set out to purchase alcohol in 85 establishments in Mesa County.

The following businesses received summonses, according to the Grand Junction Police Department:

Bank 8 Billiards, 2460 F Road, No. 3.

Bamboo City, 2472 F Road

East Valley Liquors, 418 32 Road

Mount Garfield Liquors, 3323 Interstate 70 Business Loop

Enzo’s Pizzaria and Italian Cafe, 759 Horizon Drive, Suite N

Holiday Inn, 2751 Crossroads Blvd.

Officers from the Grand Junction Police Department, the Mesa County Sheriff’s Department and the state liquor board assisted in the checks. The checks were funded by a grant called Enforcing Underage Drinking Laws, which was given to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Department to be used for compliance checks.

Businesses that are out of compliance must attend a meeting before the state’s liquor board or the city of Grand Junction. Penalties could include a fine or a suspension of operations.
