I-70 rollover kills GJ man

A Grand Junction man died Wednesday after his pickup careened off Interstate 70 near Avon.

Dustin Millett, 32, was pronounced dead at the scene around 6:30 a.m., according to Colorado State Patrol Trooper Rick Kaspar.

The 2007 Nissan Titan drifted off westbound I-70 at mile post 167 and hit a post in the median. Millett overcorrected the vehicle, which went off the other side roadway and rolled, Kaspar said.

A backseat passenger, James Woods, 33, of Montrose, suffered minor injuries and was treated and released from Vail Valley Medical Center. Neither Millett nor Woods was wearing seat belts.

Kaspar said the men, employees of Precision Drilling in Grand Junction, were returning home and had departed from Stanley, S.D., around 6 p.m. Tuesday. Drugs and alcohol are not suspected factors, the State Patrol said.
