There are also made-up knowns, which apparently Josh Penry has completely mastered. This column is full of dog whistles that have no basis in reality. George Soros is not telling local DEMS what to do, not is he financing their efforts. You might look to some dot com millionaires for financial influence, but George Soros is a paranoid right wing theory and nothing more. I can’t imagine why Rumsfeld is being brought into this discussion, as a disgraced war monger nobody is singing his praises these days, which demonstrates how out of touch Penry really is. Oh, and then there is the whining about banning drilling, which NOBODY is banning. Clearly Penry hasn’t visited Western Colorado lately or he would see all the rigs drilling away in Garfield County. Of course, the fact that drilling is actually happening in Colorado isn’t a convenient fact for an industry lobbyist who wants no regulations on oil and gas, despite a spill that is currently threatening the drinking water of Parachute. Oh, and that school finance bill? It was court ordered. You want the legislature to be in contempt of court? Penry, you are good at dog whistles to the paranoid base of the Republican Party, but you have added noting of value to the discussion.

I missed the bills banning drilling.  You mean increasing the fine for toxic messes like at Parachute?  I think the constant hyperbolic refrain from energy-boosters is a detriment to the cause.  Enough people live/see around this activity to understand that claims of the industry being destroyed is hooey.  Instead we read daily of spills and mishaps.  Its clear which direction regs need to go in, notwithstanding the best efforts of Mr. Penry’s clients.
