Josh Penry’s admitted reliance on “Faux News’(?)” distorted version of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s testimony before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee Wednesday confirms that – once again – Penry is merely regurgitating Republican talking points (“Liberal overreach seen in D.C. and in the Colorado Legislature”, January 24, 2013).

Penry’s distorted “take” is reminiscent of our Republican State Senator Steve King’s reliance on the Walter Reed Army Hospital scandal in 2007 as evidence of the purported ineptitude of “government-run health care” (anticipating “ObamaCare”) – when the underlying causes of that abuse of our wounded warriors were Republican budget cuts and “outsourcing” of critical maintenance services to a de facto subsidiary of Halliburton.

Clinton responded forcefully to Senator Ron Johnson’s (R-Wis) insipid “grand-standing”. What neither Penry nor Fox reported – but what both Johnson and Clinton knew then, and what Senator John Kerrey forced Johnson to admit on Thursday – was that Johnson had failed to read either the classified or unclassified investigative reports and had not even bothered to attend the classified briefing at which all his “concerns” had been addressed.

Thus, Johnson – like Penry – preferred to keep himself deliberately uninformed so that he could continue to contend that there was readily available accurate information that could easily have been shared with the American people immediately after the Benghazi attack—when intelligence experts are still not sure why and how that tragedy transpired.

However, as a result of Republican-imposed budget constraints, Ambassador Stevens’ security had been “outsourced” to private contractors, prompting Clinton to reference previous and widely publicized difficulties with such arrangements in Iraq.

The official unclassified report establishes that the security detail was not “on alert” when the attack occurred, but rather was lounging around away from their “kits” – such that the compound was overrun before they could retrieve their weapons from sleeping quarters!

The rest of the Clinton statement would have been, if those pubs could’ve handled the truth, would have been, “because YOU myopic dunderheads refused the request by State for more security dollars in appropriations. Here we are expanding spheres of influence and YOU dopes want to play political games – even now!”
Penry is swinging so far to tea-partyism that he needs a top-hat with bags hanging from the brim so he can take a place in Wonderland sounding off with his distorted views of whom the majority of Americans re-elected POTUS. Get a life Penry.
