Library asks for comments in survey about branches, programs, services

Do you use the library more to download eBooks or use the Internet — or not at all?

The Mesa County Public Library District is seeking answers to such questions from users and non-users alike as part of a usage survey.

“It’s a way for us to basically check in with Mesa County, both our users and non-users, about how we’re doing,” library spokesman Bob Kretschman said.

The 20-question survey asks questions about when and how often people use the library, which branch they use and the most important programs and services, among others.

Kretschman said the most recent usage survey was conducted in 2008. Results from that survey, in which about 600 people participated, helped guide development of the library’s strategic plan. Library officials collect a variety of statistics about the library’s services and operations to measure its progress, and the survey is one of those measurement tools, he said.

People can participate in the survey by logging onto www. mesacountylibraries.org, or by picking up a paper copy at any library location.

The survey closes July 15. Kretschman said the library hopes to have some initial results by the end of August.
