Maes trails Tancredo in fundraising
DENVER — Third-party gubernatorial candidate Tom Tancredo has outpaced the GOP’s Dan Maes in August fundraising, collecting $200,485 to $50,201 for Maes.
The Denver Post reports Maes had nearly $18,000 cash on hand, compared to more than $141,000 for Tancredo.
Democrat John Hickenlooper reported raising nearly $404,000 in August, with total contributions at $2.7 million. Hickenlooper’s campaign says it had more than $171,500 cash on hand at the end of the month.
Maes is fighting another campaign finance fine. The Secretary of State’s office fined him $1,900 for failing to report one or more contributors in July. Maes objects to the fine and filed for a waiver.
Maes paid $17,500 in previous campaign finance violations.
