Man killed in one-vehicle wreck in Fruita is identified

Fruita resident Tyler Dingmann, 18, died from blunt force injuries that were the result of a car crash early Saturday at an intersection of two country roads in Fruita, according to the Mesa County Coroner’s Office.

Dingmann’s death was ruled an accident, the office said in a statement Sunday.

Dingmann and another person were riding in a white 1997 Ford Mustang just after midnight when the vehicle went through the intersection at 17 1/4 Road and K 3/4 Road. Both occupants were thrown from the vehicle. The other person, whose name was not available Sunday, was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital with serious injuries, according to the Colorado State Patrol.

The vehicle hit a number of fixed objects, then caught on fire, the State Patrol said.

The State Patrol said it did not know Sunday which person was driving the vehicle and that officials were still investigating the cause of the crash.
