Mesa women shut out Grizzlies
Mesa State snapped a two-game losing streak Sunday with a 3-0 RMAC women’s soccer victory over Adams State in Alamosa.
Dany Ramirez scored one goal and assisted another for the Mavericks (8-6, 5-5 RMAC). Brittany Cito gave Mesa a 1-0 lead with a goal at 14:37. Kelly Husky scored in the 88th minute.
Mesa took 16 shots, including 10 on goal. Adams (4-10, 2-8 RMAC) took eight shots, including four on goal.
Mavs fall to No. 8 Fort Lewis
The Mesa State College men’s soccer team was limited to one shot on goal Sunday in a 5-1 loss to eighth-ranked Fort Lewis in Durango.
Five different players scored goals for the Skyhawks (11-1-0, 8-0-0 RMAC), who took 18 shots, including 12 on goal.
Mesa (2-10-1, 2-6-0 RMAC) scored its goal on a Marco Angelo penalty kick at 77:59. Fort Lewis scored its first three goals in the first 20 minutes.
