Montrose, Ouray trail proposals reviewed
Bureau of Land Management planners are seeking feedback on two, single-track trail proposals in Montrose and Ouray counties. The proposals, both under consideration at the BLM’s Uncompahgre Field Office in Montrose, will be open to comment on through March 28, the BLM said.
The first project calls for the realignment of Paradox Trail on the west side of Uncompaghre Plateau. The work would include the construction of about four miles of new, single-track trail and a new trail head that would help address trespassing complaints in the area.
The Paradox Trail stretches roughly 100 miles, linking Tabeguache Trail on Uncompaghre Plateau, west to Kokopelli’s Trail in Utah’s La Sal Mountains.
According to the BLM, the second project calls for the construction of a trail head on the north side of Ouray County Road 10, as well as two miles of single-track trail along the west side of Uncompaghre River, adjacent to Ridgway State Park.
The proposal was made by the Ridgway Trails Group and Colorado Plateau Mountain Bike Trail Association.
Maps showing the two proposals can be found at http://www.blm.gov.
