Monument chief to retire

Colorado National Monument Superintendent Joan Anzelmo will retire from the National Park Service on July 1.

Anzelmo, a 35-year career employee of the National Park Service, announced her retirement today. She orchestrated the centennial celebration of the monument with a New Year’s Eve fireworks celebration and a gathering of 600 people in May.

Anzelmo plans to retire to Jackson, Wyo.
