Monument fees to rise
Visiting Colorado National Monument will cost a bit more when May rolls around, as the monument increases its fees for the first time in six years.
Entrance fees will rise May 2 from $7 to $10 per vehicle and pedestrian and cyclist entrance fees will go to $5 per person from the current $4.
Rates to camp at Saddlehorn Campground also will increase, from $10 to $20 a night. monument officials said.
Revenue from entrance fees and other charges are used to improve the monument, including its water and sewer systems. Revenue from fees also is being used to replace the exhibits in the visitor center, replace wayside exhibits and restore restroom facilities.
