Olathe teen killed on motorcycle

A 13-year-old Olathe boy was killed Tuesday in Montrose County while riding his motorcycle.

Blake Austin Barrett died on his way to a nearby hospital.

Barrett was riding southbound on 5600 Road when he disregarded a stop sign at the intersection of Colorado Highway 348, according to Colorado State Patrol trooper Darel Reed.

Delta resident Marilyn Blenn Fick, 54, who was driving a Ford Expedition, struck the front left of Barrett’s Kawasaki KLX-125 motorcycle, according to the State Patrol.

Fick was not injured.

Barrett was wearing a helmet, and Fick did have his seat belt on. Neither drugs nor alcohol was involved in the incident, the State Patrol said.
