Police say 10 area businesses sold alcohol to underage person

The Grand Junction Police Department reported today that 10 of 85 businesses failed compliance checks this weekend when they sold alcohol to an underage investigator.

Officers and deputies from the Grand Junction Police Department, Mesa County Sheriff’s Office, and State Liquor conducted compliance checks this weekend. The 10 businesses who allegedly failed include:

626 On Rood
Bank 8 Billiards
Bamboo City
East Valley Liquor
Mount Garfield Liquors
Le Rouge
Blue Moon Bar & Grill
Holiday Inn

Officials say businesses that are out of compliance must go before the City of Grand Junction or State Liquor Hearing Board, which will determine how the business will be sanctioned.  Penalties could range from a fine to a suspension.  A liquor license revocation would only happen if a business was determined to be a chronic violator.
