Property, marijuana stolen from downtown pot dispensary

An unspecified amount of property and marijuana were missing after a reported burglary at a downtown Grand Junction medical marijuana dispensary.

The owners of Green Natural Solutions, 753 Rood Ave., reported a break-in after arriving at the shop just after 10 a.m. Monday, Grand Junction Police Department Cpl. Bob Culver said.

Property and marijuana with a combined value of more than $1,000 were stolen, according to the department.

Culver declined to answer several questions because of an active investigation.

Tanner Willis, the store’s general manager, said he arrived at work Monday morning and found several glass smoking pipes, small amounts of petty cash and marijuana, and a Byevaporizer missing.

Willis said surveillance cameras captured images of two men breaking in through a locked window on the north side of the store.

The video was provided to police, he said.

Burglars got away with only trace amounts of the drug, Willis said, adding it’s the store’s policy not to keep large amounts of marijuana overnight at the store.

Willis said the burglary was the first criminal incident his store has encountered since it opened in July.

The business has about 145 regular customers, he said.

“It sucks because it gives us all a bad name,” Willis said. “When you do something like this, it’s just like robbing a pharmacy or a hospital.”
