Provo police cite mother for leaving kids in car
PROVO, Utah — Provo police say they’ve cited a woman for leaving her three children alone in her car while she went shopping for more than two hours.
Provo Police Lt. Mathew Siufanua says a concerned shopper at Provo Towne Center Mall noticed a minivan with three children inside. The shopper noticed the children were still there an hour later and called police.
Siufanua says police found an 8-year-old boy, 6-year-old boy, and a 2-year-old in the car.
Police say the outside temperature at the time was 10 degrees.
The Deseret News reports police gave the 35-year-old mother a misdemeanor citation for leaving a child unattended in a vehicle. She was then released with her children.
