Pueblo entrepreneur to challenge Tipton in 2012
A Pueblo entrepreneur next week will announce her bid for the 3rd Congressional District, running to the right of incumbent Rep. Scott Tipton, a Republican.
Tisha Casida, a 29-year-old unaffiliated voter, said in a statement she will announce her candidacy on May 13 in Pueblo.
Casida also will observe the fifth anniversary of her business, That’s Natural!, which promotes sustainable agriculture through a capitalistic market approach.
Casida also publishes The Good American Post, a conservative newspaper.
Tipton last year defeated Democrat incumbent John Salazar with two candidates on the ballot, Libertarian Gregory Gilman and unaffiliated Jake Segrest of Fruita, whose pitches to voters mirrored much of Casida’s appeal to small-government voters.
No Democrats have announced bids for the 2012 election, but state Sen. Gail Schwartz of Snowmass and Rep. Sal Pace of Pueblo are considered potential candidates.
