Rollover kills one in Clifton

A driver was killed Saturday night when his truck rolled off of Interstate 70 near Clifton, according to the Colorado State Patrol.

The driver, a man whose name and age had not been released as of Sunday afternoon, was the only person in the black 2002 Ford pickup truck when it rolled.

According to a press release from the State Patrol, the truck was on westbound I-70 near mile-marker 34 about 9:30 p.m. Saturday when the driver veered off the south side of the interstate, rotated clockwise, and drove off the north shoulder.

The driver was ejected as the vehicle rolled.

The truck landed on its driver’s side and pinned the man underneath the vehicle.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.

The Clifton Fire Department, the Colorado State Patrol, the Mesa County Sheriff’s Department and K&M Towing responded to the scene.
