Sentinel election endorsements

Vote tabulation for the 2011 election is just two days away. Because Mesa County conducted this year’s election entirely with mail-in ballots, most of those ballots have already been sent. Those who haven’t mailed their ballots may hand deliver them to one of several ballot drop-off locations by 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Ballot drop-off locations include: The old Mesa County Courthouse, 544 Rood Ave., Grand Junction; the Motor Vehicle office in the Penney’s wing of Mesa Mall; the Fruita Motor Vehicle office in the Fruita Civic Center; the Clifton Motor Vehicle office in the Peach Tree Shopping Center; and the Goodwill Retail Center at 624 24 1/2 Road, Grand Junction.

For voters who have procrastinated, here is a list of The Daily Sentinel’s endorsements for this year’s election:

✔ Cindy Enos-Martinez for the District B seat on the School District 51 Board of Education.

✔ Yes on Proposition 103, the statewide ballot initiative to raise sales and income taxes to boost money for education.

✔ Yes on Palisade’s Referred Measure 2B, to prohibit the operation of medical marijuana dispensaries within the town limits.

✔ Yes on School District 51’s Referred Measure 3B, the TABOR Amendment override that would increase school district property taxes by seven mills.
