Spend a day enjoying our outdoor heritage

The magic words: It’s free and lunch is included.

Where do I sign up?

The reasons to attend the fourth annual Outdoor Heritage Day on Saturday at Palisade’s Riverbend Park are as numerous as the trout recently stocked in the park’s ponds.

Youths of all ages can learn archery, rock climbing, test their hunting skills in the Colorado Division of Wildlife’s hunting simulator, and get an introduction to fishing and maybe even a new fishing pole.

Did I mention it’s free? And lunch is included.

If you’re too old to be a kid, the Grand Valley Anglers Chapter of Trout Unlimited needs some volunteers to instruct fly tying and fly casting.

You only need to know only the basics, have a sense of humor and the willingness to share your enthusiasm with a kid or two.
