Store keeps inventory dry after break in water main

A break in a 4-inch water main along Main Street caused an undetermined amount of damage to one downtown business.

Western Anglers, 413 Main St., had about 1 inch of water at places in its basement Wednesday, according to a city of Grand Junction news release.

However, the store will not have to close as a result of the leak, said an employee of the store. In fact, most inventory was kept away from the water, the employee added.

A more complete assessment of damage was scheduled for today.

The break was discovered at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday and was fixed by mid-afternoon as crews continued the Downtown Uplift renovation project in the 400 block of Main Street.
