This Week in the Legislature, April 9, 2012

Lawmakers in the Colorado House will continue debating the 2012–13 budget this week.

■ Today: The Senate is expected to conduct a final vote on a bill that would allow the children of illegal immigrants in-state tuition to Colorado colleges and universities, but only if those schools agree.

■ Tuesday: The Senate Finance Committee will hear a bill that would reduce sentencing for nonviolent offenders.

■ Thursday: The House Appropriations Committee will review a bill that would limit fines charged by the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment.

■ Next week: The Senate is to complete work on the budget. Depending on changes, it could head to the governor’s office or a conference committee to iron out differences between the House and Senate versions.

Scheduled committee hearings are subject to change.

All floor action and committees can be watched or heard on the Legislature’s website, http://www.leg.state.co.us.
