This Week in the Legislature, March 26, 2012
Initially, the Joint Budget Committee planned to have ready its proposed spending plan for next year, but budget negotiations are ongoing and will continue through the week.
■ Today: The Senate Judiciary Committee will hear a controversial bill that would ban district attorneys from prosecuting juveniles as adults without a judge’s approval.
■ Tuesday: The House Judiciary Committee will debate a bill to add bath salts to the list of controlled substances.
■ Wednesday: The House State, Veterans & Military Affairs Committee is to hear a bill to create a voluntary program to help promote small businesses through a special application for mobile devices.
■ Thursday: The Senate Health & Human Services Committee will hear a bill to allow prison health clinics to redispense unused medications to other patients.
■ Next week: The JBC tentatively set April 4 as the day it will finalize next year’s budget.
