Tisue, Leany join board

With a campaign message that she wanted to see education results in District 51 improve, and talented teachers be better appreciated, but she didn’t want to increase the tax burden on residents, Ann Tisue handily defeated incumbent District B School Board member Cindy Enos-Martinez Tuesday.

Jeff Leany ran unopposed for the District A seat on the board, but shared many of the same views as Tisue.

We were critical of Tisue for not taking a clearer position on school issues, notably where she would seek further budget cuts if more funding wasn’t approved. In a short time, she and Leany will have the opportunity to make their budget-cut preferences known, as the school board considers its finances for next year.

We wish both of them — and other school board members — the wisdom of Solomon in what will certainly not be an easy task.
