Tom Fisher officially in as new county administrator

Mesa County commissioners today officially entered into an employment contract with Tom Fisher, who has been serving as interim county administrator since January.

Fisher, who alternately is a colonel and brigade commander with the Utah National Guard, accepted the job Monday with the county commission’s passage of his employment contract at their regular public meeting today.

He takes over for Chantal Unfug, who submitted her resignation Jan. 22 of this year after commissioners sought a termination of her contract. Unfug had been county administrator since July 2011.

Current county commissioners Rose Pugliese and John Justman were newly seated to the board just weeks before Unfug’s resignation.

Fisher is an 11-year county employee, a masters graduate of the U.S. Army War College, and a graduate of Michigan State University.
