Two Boulder police officers charged with DUI resign
BOULDER — Two Boulder police officers charged with driving under the influence in separate cases have resigned.
The Daily Camera reports 40-year-old Scott Morris was arrested on suspicion of DUI in November, and 46-year-old Elizabeth Ward was arrested the following month.
After an internal investigation, a review panel recommended the firing of Morris — a 12-year veteran of the department — and Ward — a five-year veteran. But both officers resigned before any ruling was made.
Ward, who was the department’s DUI officer, was spotted by an off-duty Arvada police officer weaving on Interstate 25 in Thornton on Dec. 4. A sheriff’s office report says Morris, a detective, was pulled over Nov. 15 on U.S. 36 after a deputy clocked him going 76 mph in a 55 mph zone.
