Vacation now!

Woohoo! Like children busting through the doors on the last day of school, members of Congress couldn’t wait to decamp Washington for summer vacation.

They’d done all that heavy lifting on the debt dispute, you see. There was no time to stick around for minor matters like keeping the Federal Aviation Administration functioning.

What’s $1.2 billion in lost FAA revenue when Congress just approved $2.4 trillion in new federal borrowing?

Why worry about a few thousand jobs temporarily lost? The unemployment rate is already over 9.2 percent.

It’s far more important for politicians to get back home and tell constituents how they fought the good fight against the evil efforts of the other party.

Note: Public approval ratings for Congress are now at historic lows. Probably just a coincidence.
