Voters choose to retain judges at state, county levels

Mesa County voters chose this week to retain three local judges, while residents statewide came to the same conclusion for three state Supreme Court justices and four state Court of Appeals judges.

Voters agreed 56 percent to 27 percent (30,084 to 14,840) to keep District Judge Richard Gurley on the bench, 53 percent to 29 percent (29,543 to 16,300) to keep District Judge Valerie Robison and 57 percent to 27 percent (31,382 to 14,723) to keep County Judge Bruce Raaum.

Statewide, Supreme Court justices Alex Martinez, Michael Bender and Nancy Rice and Court of Appeals judges David Richman, John Daniel Dailey, Nancy Lichtenstein and Richard Gabriel kept their seats.

A group called Clear the Bench Colorado had urged voters to dump the three Supreme Court justices.
