Weather diverts flights to GJ
Multiple flights are being diverted to Grand Junction Regional Airport today because freezing rain has temporarily closed the Salt Lake City International Airport.
The Salt Lake Tribune reported the runways at the airport there closed to departures at 9 a.m. due to ice building up on the tarmac. An airport spokeswoman said a Frontier jetliner inbound from Denver slid a short distance on a taxiway but didn’t strike anything, the Tribune reported.
A Daily Sentinel photographer at Grand Junction Regional Airport said lines of people have formed at the airport.
