Welcome, John McCain
Grand Junction residents may get a brief glimpse of Sen. John McCain at Grand Junction Regional Airport today as he makes a fast Election Day visit to Grand Junction. It’s one of up to seven stops McCain is scheduled to make on this final day of the presidential campaign as he tries to win over the last few undecided voters.
McCain’s opponent isn’t coasting in the waning days of the campaign, either. Sen. Barack Obama zoomed through stops in three different states Monday, and was scheduled to appear in at least two others today.
It’s all part of the final election scramble for votes. And it’s clear, that both candidates consider Colorado crucial in this race, and neither one is taking it for granted.
In addition to McCain’s appearance in Grand Junction today, his running mate, Sarah Palin, was in Colorado Springs Monday evening.
Obama and his wife, Michelle, attended a rally in Pueblo on Saturday, and Michelle Obama was back in Colorado Monday, visiting a school in Littleton.
Obama, of course, made a campaign stop in Grand Junction in mid-September, and Palin was here just over two weeks ago.
We join many people in western Colorado in welcoming John McCain to Grand Junction. And we hope that whoever wins the presidential election today, he will remember Western Colorado and its issues even if there is no election at stake.
