You Said It Column February 21, 2009

• Thanks to the farmers west of Bananas Fun Park for leaving the corn from the maze in the field. I enjoyed many walks along the trail this winter. The number of geese and ducks that fed on the field provided me with many peaceful moments. The fat red-tail hawk that roosted to the west of the field thanks you as well.

• I was just getting ready to send the Sierra Club some money, and now they are running a  full-page ad in the Sentinel concerning “Dirty Oil Shale.” Truth has become a rare item in today’s news media and government productions. Is everyone enjoying the trip to the bottom of the black hole?

• To whomever owns the beautiful border collie in the area of 23.5 Road and K 3/4 Road: You cannot allow herding dogs to roam loose around a rural area with livestock. Please keep him safely at home.

• Tell me why the moron who drove off the monument doesn’t have to pay all the expenses involved in his “rescue” and retrieval of his van ... where’s the justice? Send him the $12,000 + bill of services rendered.

• You know, the picture of Darwin on the billboard along Highway 50 makes him look ape-like .... maybe he is a monkey’s uncle. I have nothing but sympathy for people who think evolution is fact. People do not want to acknowledge their Creator, Who has created all people in His image, not in the image of apes.

• Let me get this straight. The sore losers are holding up getting anything done, won’t go along with compromise and are the same group whose president vetoed everything. So could you just get over it and stop trying to make everything look like it’s the Democrats’ fault?

• It would be great if drivers turning left onto a four-lane city street would realize they don’t get both lanes to turn into. They get just one lane. Traffic would run a lot more smoothly, more timely and safer if they would learn to drive.

• To the person who thinks we don’t need a law banning cell phones while driving because some people are capable of doing it safely: That’s an awful lot like saying we shouldn’t have a law against murder because not everyone would kill someone given the chance. How would you feel if it was your child who was killed by someone not paying attention to the road because they were on their cell phone?

• It is interesting how outraged folks are about the octuplets and the associated burden on taxpayers. Taxpayers foot the bill for the care of millions of children born each year that their parents can’t afford. Where is the outrage about that?

• A 10-year-old boy got a ticket? Are you kidding me? What is our world coming to?
