You Said it Column October 14, 2008

• Oh boy. Depression’s coming. No money for ragged jeans and tattoos.

• Obama’s ad saying that the oil companies know nothing of alternate energy is not true. Oil companies’ business is energy. They have been working on alternate energy forms for 50 or more years. If they could come up with an alternate form of energy that would be economical feasible, they would stand to make a lot of money. But, unfortunately, the alternate forms of energy cannot replace oil right now. Maybe in the future a breakthrough will be made in some alternate form of energy to make it a reasonable alternative to oil. But they cannot provide research without funds to do it. And research is expensive. And it usually does not pay for itself.
