You Said It Column September 15, 2008

• So the stalwart community leaders at the chamber can’t make up their mind about the need and funding for the public safety buildings. First they like it one way, then they flip-flop and like it the other. If they wanted to get more political, I can sure see how they have been successful. Can’t get a consistent decision out of them. Oh come on, you know what we need, quit playing politics and do what’s best for the community. I sure hope you never have a fire or need a cop.

• I recently found out that one of the elementary schools in town doesn’t allow the children to run on the play ground for reasons of safety. They aren’t allowed to play sports either. It is already bad enough the children only have gym a few times a week. I think using the safety issue is an excuse for not wanting to deal with the children. It is easier for the adults on the playground if everyone is just sitting around. How can we help our children to be more fit if they aren’t even allowed to run and play outside at school? What is the matter with our administrators?
