You Said It Column September 16, 2008

• This town never ceases to amaze me. You want oil and gas to come in and bring thousands of new high paying-jobs, and then freak out when people say they want to limit that. And then you freak out when you’re asked to pay for schools to service the families that these thousands of new jobs have attracted. Let them eat cake.

• We still have a need for a railroad overpass at Ninth Street. There is still a great deal of traffic on D Road,  and the Riverside Parkway does not relieve the need for a crossing at or near Ninth Street. A new crossing at 29 Road will still not relieve the need for a crossing at or near Ninth Street. The  30 Road underpass helped considerably, and a crossing at Ninth would also help considerably. This city is growing at a rapid rate, and will continue in the long term. Therein is the need to look further into the near future at the definite need for a railroad crossing at Ninth Street. The slow, long coal trains are just going to keep on tracking, so let’s get our heads out of the sand, folks.
