You Said It, Nov. 27, 2016

In last week’s edition of You Said It, we invited readers to share what they were thankful for this holiday season. Here are your responses:

I would like to express my deep gratitude, appreciation and heartfelt thanks to our police officers, EMTs, and all the men and women in the fire department who are committed to the safety and welfare of our community. They risk their lives for us every day. Let us never take them for granted. Thank you so much. May God be with each and every one of them.

I don’t know your names, but I very much want to thank my heroes — the kind people who stopped on Orchard near 28 1/2 Road on Thanksgiving morning and helped to save my dog from the two pit bulls (or whatever they were) attacking her. She is going to be all right. She needs surgery, but she survived, thanks to you.

Thank you to the kind people at the table next to us at IHOP who paid for our meals on Veterans Day. We were celebrating a child’s birthday and what followed was a conversation about gratitude. Thank you for your service.

It’s hard to rake up the leaves when they won’t fall out of the trees. Thanks to the GJ city crews for making an extra pass through the neighborhoods and picking up the leaves.

A special thank you to the kind person at Starbucks on 25 Road who paid for our coffee on Oct. 17. We will sure pass it on. Thank you so much.

A big thank you to the lovely woman who picked up all the trash along that part of South Broadway west of Riggs Hill. You and others like you are the ones who make a real difference in our community.
