Barnelopet rescheduled for Saturday

The Barnelopet, the annual children’s cross-country ski race sponsored by the Sons of Norway, has been rescheduled for Saturday after the original date in March was snowed out.

The event, sponsored by Vestafjell Lodge of the Sons of Norway in cooperation with the Grand Mesa Nordic Council, will be at the Skyway Nordic Area on Grand Mesa.

Registration begins at 10 a.m., and free lessons are at 11 a.m. and races at noon. Races vary from one kilometer to five kilometers, and no cross-country ski experience is necessary.

Skiers should bring their own equipment. Rental equipment is available for a small fee by contacting .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) with child’s name, shoe size, height, weight and skiing ability.

The ski package needs to be reserved by Wednesday.

As any Norwegian also might say, “Mange tusen takk (many thousand thanks).”
