Bird and ski Sunday on Grand Mesa trip

Go up on Grand Mesa in down.

The Grand Valley Audubon Society is offering a day ski touring on Grand Mesa to see the diversity of birds that winter at 10,000 feet.

Think you are the only one puffed up in feathers?

Guess again. The Audubon Society counted 65 different species and nearly 3,300 individual birds during the recent Grand Mesa Christmas Bird Count.

Lots of wild turkeys but no partridges, pear tree or otherwise.

WHAT: Grand Mesa cross-country ski and birding trip.

WHERE: Meet 9 a.m. Sunday at the Palisade High School parking lot.

WHEN: Sunday morning with a return expected around mid-afternoon.

HOW: Bring the usual lunch, etc., along with ski gear and binoculars. Contact Lee Stigen or Cecelia Barr at 241-3905.
