Prep football

• Rocky Mountain QB honored

Rocky Mountain quarterback Bryan Peters has been selected the Gatorade Colorado Football Player of the Year.
The award recognizes outstanding athletic excellence and high standards of academic achievement. Peters threw 31 touchdowns for the Lobos this season.
Peters has verbally committed to a baseball scholarship to the University of Nebraska.

Fishing

• Guide has fly-tying demonstration

Fly-fishing guide Ted Relihan of Meeker will be featured Saturday at a fly-tying demonstration at Western Anglers Fly Shop, 413 Main St., in Grand Junction.
The demonstration begins at 10 a.m. and is free to the public.
Relihan, a partner in Smoking River Guides on the White River, has been guiding full-time for 16 years focusing on the White, Fryingpan, Roaring Fork and Green rivers.
He will be demonstrating his “go-to” flies as well as special patterns for winter fly fishing.
