Galileo theme featured in first Monument Walks and Talks Series April 4

The Colorado National Monument Association Spring Walks and Talks Series presentations are under way with the first outdoor presentation taking place Saturday, April 4, at the Saddlehorn picnic area parking lot.

“Galileo Evening Under the Stars,” presented by Hank Schoch and the Western Colorado Astronomy Club, will begin at dusk and go through 10 p.m.

It will feature telescopes for night-sky viewing as well as a special scope that projects a digital image of the sky on a monitor.

The highlight of the evening is the opportunity to gaze at the stars through a replica of the telescope that Galileo built and used to explore the heavens 400 years ago.

Call 858-3617, ext. 360/364, for information.
