Camper who died was Clifton woman

The missing woman who died during a camping trip near Rabbit Valley was Dannah E. Foster, a 23-year-old from Clifton, according to the Mesa County Coroner’s Office.

Foster died of multiple injuries, the coroner’s report said, but the cause of death was not released Saturday because the investigation was continuing.

Foster was camping with her husband and friends in the rugged Knowles Overlook area when she wandered away from the site Thursday night, according to Mesa County Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman Lisa McCammon. Foster’s body was recovered Friday night by Mesa County search and rescue team members, McCammon said.

Emergency personnel were called to the area of the Rabbit Valley campsite at about 2 p.m. Friday after Foster, who was camping with her husband and other friends, was reported missing, McCammon said.

Volunteers who worked the scene included people using all-terrain vehicles and a technical ropes crew and a boat crew, McCammon said.

Friends and family expressed their grief and love for Foster on her Facebook page Saturday. Foster, who recently married James Foster and was a Mesa State College student, is remembered by friends as being joyful and fun-loving.
