Childs to talk about ‘The Apocalyptic Planet’

Nature writer Craig Childs has an apocalyptic vision of Earth’s future, and he wants to share it with you.

Childs, whose books include “The House of Rain” (2007) and “The Animal Dialogues” (2007), has a new book released this month, titled “The Apocalyptic Planet — Field Guide to the Never-ending Earth” (Pantheon Publishing).

Despite its foreboding title, it’s not about the end of this unstable planet. It’s about ... well, you can learn the rest Nov. 3 when Childs appears at Colorado Mesa University, sponsored by the Grand Valley Audubon Society and the Western Writers Forum.

You wouldn’t want me to ruin a good ending, would you?
