CMC leases Parachute site for classes, wants comment about what to offer

Colorado Mountain College has leased a building in Parachute and has scheduled several classes there this fall.

The college also is seeking input from residents, businesses and community leaders in the Parachute and Battlement Mesa area about what classes and programs they would like to see offered locally.

CMC’s West Garfield Campus, based in Rifle, leased the former Grand Valley Educational Career Center from Garfield County School District 16. Some college-related training classes had been offered there in recent years, but the school district closed the building because of budget cuts.

An online survey can be found at coloradomtn.edu/wgc, and campus staff members will be attending local government and organization meetings to gather more comment.

Also, an open house at the center will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Sept. 22 so college officials can gather more input and showcase the building. It’s at 281 N. Parachute Ave.
