CMU team finishes 14th at College Fishing event at Lake Texoma

Windy and cold conditions greeted college anglers heading out early Saturday in the FLW College Fishing Southern Conference event at Lake Texoma. The Colorado Mesa University team of Josh Worth and Kennedy Kinkade finished 14th in the 50-team tournament.

Cold and windy conditions created difficult fishing conditions for the 50 two-person teams competing Saturday in the FLW College Fishing Southern Conference event at Lake Texoma on the Texas-Oklahoma border.

The short story is that only one team weighed a five-bass limit.

The Central Oklahoma University duo of Colten Hutson and Brock Enmeier won the one-day tournament with a limit weighing 13 pounds, 15 ounces.

The victory earned the club $2,000 and advanced the team to the FLW College Fishing Southern Conference Championship tournament.

Only two of the top 15 teams weighed four bass, and more than half of the teams went fishless.

The Colorado Mesa University team of Josh Worth (Grand Junction) and Kennedy Kinkade (Midvale, Utah) finished 14th, registering one bass weighing 2 pounds, 13 ounces.

Kinkade is a senior majoring in biology and premedicine, and Worth is a sophomore with a biology major.

The top 15 teams advanced to the Southern Conference Championship tournament on Grand Lake in Grove, Okla.

This FLW College Fishing Southern Conference tournament was the second regular-season qualifying tournament.

The next event for Southern Conference anglers is scheduled for Sept. 19 at the Red River in Natchitoches, Louisiana, and is hosted by the city of Natchitoches.
