Enjoy holiday weekend, Colorado state parks

OK, so it’s not a walk on the entirely wild side.

But spending Labor Day at one of Colorado’s 42 state parks isn’t bad, at all.

Boating, fishing, camping, sightseeing, wildlife watching — it just doesn’t get much better.

And don’t forget the hot showers, either.

The only catch (there’s always a catch) is some of the parks are already booked for this last big weekend of the summer.

But there still is plenty of room at many parks, so call ahead. Call now.

WHAT: Spending the summer’s last holiday weekend at your favorite state park.

WHERE: Colorado has 42 state parks scattered from the Eastern Plains to the red-rock canyon country of western Colorado.

WHEN: The three-day Labor Day weekend allows enough time to see your state during the best month of the year.

HOW: Contact your favorite state park or go to http://parks.state.co.us, and click on “Reservations.”
