Evans to present journey ‘Colorado Kaleidoscope’

Scenes such as this high-country stream loaded with cutthroat trout are a tease for the summer and help the mid-winter blahs disappear. Joel Evans of Montrose will share some of his favorite places Thursday in his presentation titled “Colorado Kaleidoscope.”

It’s not too early to plan that summer fly-fishing trip to far-away waters.

Not too far away, not like Alaska or Christmas Island, but far-away only in the sense they aren’t well known.

Except for Joel Evans of Montrose, who knows a bunch about these far-away waters, many of which are small streams that demand some hiking or maybe a deft touch at the steering wheel.

His presentation Thursday to the Grand Valley Anglers is titled “Colorado Kaleidoscope,” and like a child’s kaleidoscope, the scenery, fish and wildlife change in rapid order.

The show is free, and you might find a whole summer’s worth of adventure.

WHAT: “Colorado Kaleidoscope,” a photographic journey on fly fishing western Colorado’s small streams

WHERE: Monthly meeting of the Grand Valley Anglers chapter of Trout Unlimited, Holiday Inn, 2751 Crossroads Blvd.

WHEN: Thursday, 5:30 p.m. dinner (optional), 7 p.m. presentation.
