Former GJ star Swartzendruber lifts Chill over Baton Rouge

Junction product leads team into title game

Former Grand Junction High School standout soccer player Brandon Swartzendruber helped lead the Thunder Bay Chill to a 2-1 victory over Baton Rouge in the semifinals of the United Soccer Premier Development League playoffs on Friday in Portland, Ore.

The Premier Development League is regarded as the top amateur league in the United States and Canada.

The Chill fell behind 1-0 before rallying to score two goals in the second half and advance to the finals at 5 p.m. today. The game will be televised at Fox Soccer Channel.

Swartzendruber led the PDL in goals (15) and points (35) this season.
