Free fishing weekend is June 7-8

It’s never to early to take the family fishing and start someone on a lifelong pursuit. Colorado Parks and Wildlife is offering a free fishing weekend
June 6-7.

The next best thing to going fishing is going fishing for free.

All of you would-be anglers a little short of cash can get a free fishing fix June 7-8, Colorado’s Free Fishing Weekend.

Don’t just take Mr. Outside’s word for it; Colorado Parks and Wildlife is offering two days of no-fee, no-license fishing.

“Colorado certainly offers tremendous fishing opportunities,” Parks and Wildlife’s Aquatic Section Manager Greg Gerlich said. “However, we know that there are many people that have thought about it but for whatever reason have not bought a license. With a chance to fish for free, they may see how enjoyable an experience it can be, then maybe they’ll decide to buy a license and enjoy it year-round.”

The caveat: The fishing is free but the regulations aren’t suspended.

Know before you go.

No excuses now. Grab a rod, some bait, a willing youngster and go get your hands slimy.
