For the first time in school history, the Colorado Mesa University women’s basketball team is a top-five team.
The Mavericks (15-0, 11-0 RMAC) moved up to No. 4 in the USA Today/WBCA national rankings released this morning. The highest the women’s team had ever been ranked was No. 7, which the Mavs were ranked last week and in 2002.

Metro State, which plays at CMU on Friday night at Brownson Arena, is ranked No. 1 for the first time this season. Adams State is No. 18 and Fort Lewis No. 20.
The women’s game Friday against Metro State, which was the preseason favorite to win the conference, is at 5:30 p.m., with the men’s game tipping off at 7:30 p.m. at Brownson.
