Mullervy wins Criterium race No. 2
LiveTrainRace.com cyclists Kevin Mullervy, Robb Parsons and Esmeralda Martinez took first place in the Grand Junction Criterium Series Race No. 2 on Wednesday night at Rocky Mountain Orthopaedic Associates.
Mullervy won the Men’s Group A race for the second time this season. Group A includes professionals and category 1, 2 and 3 cyclists.
Parsons won the Men’s Group B (Category 4 & 5 and Master’s division), which included 26 riders on the .67-mile course. Richie Hahn of Grand Junction took second, followed by Stephen Slaughter of LiveTrainRace.com.
Martinez won the Women’s Group A division and Avivah Hotimsky of ColoradoBikeLaw.com won the Women’s Group B race.

Outlaws’ Collins second at nationals
Dustin Collins of the Colorado Outlaws wrestling club competed at the Brute Adidas Nationals in Kansas City, Mo., last weekend. He finished second in the 50-pound third-grade division.
Kearney hires women’s coach
Kevin Chaney, the top assistant at Southern Illinois Edwardsville has been hired to replace Carol Russell as the head women’s basketball coach at the University of Nebraska-Kearney.
Russell was recently hired as the head coach at Upper Iowa.
Chaney just completed his 16th season as an assistant coach, working at SIU Edwardsville, Nevada, Minnesota-Duluth and Lincoln (Mo.) University. He also coached at Solano (Calif.) Community College.
Junction wins Montrose Invitational
Grand Junction won the Montrose Invitational at Black Canyon Golf Course with a 273. The Tigers’ Jordan Fellhauer finished second with a 82. Raelynn Early added a 95 for Grand Junction.
Central took a younger team to the tournament, and was led by Shannan Jacquez’s 110. Jordan Eller added a 115. Palisade was led by Mandi Green’s 105.
